Whilst he has Israeli citizenship Giovanni Rossi has opted for a few years to
play for Croatia, his country of origin. His debut in the check shirt dates from
November 2002 in a match against Romania. He actively participated in Croatia's
qualifying during the preliminary phase, making his debut against Belgium and
making his mark in the match against Andorra.
From 1996 he has played a leading role in Israeli soccer. He played for Hapoel
Beer-Sheva, for Hapoel Haifa, with whom he won the historic title in 1998/99,
for Beitar Jerusalem and for Maccabi Haifa, his current team. He has played matches
in the League Champions and the UEFA Cup and he has been twice elected twice Israel's
player of the year (1998/99 and 2000/2001). |

A versatile and dynamic defender, Zdenek Grygera will undoubtedly be one of the
Czech Republic's strong points in the up-and-coming Portugal European Championships.
He made his debut with the national side in 2001 against South Korea and he was
a fundamental element in the Czech team during the European Championships' qualifying
rounds in which he played eight matches.
His precocious talent soon drew the attention of Sparta Praga, with whom he
played up until 2003. Last season he played for one the most important European
teams and a title-winning team for Europe, that is Ajax, with whom he contested
the last edition of the League Champions. |
